Shane Gillis Sisters: Meet Kait and Sarah Gillis, the Women Behind the Comedian
· calvin
Shane Gillis grew up with two sisters who have shaped both his comedy and his family life. Kait Gillis is his older sister, a nonprofit leader and entrepreneur. Sarah Gillis is his younger sister, a creative professional who keeps a low public profile.
The comedian referenced his sisters during his October 10, 2026 Saturday Night Live monologue, where he described them with a crude phrase that drew backlash online. The moment brought renewed attention to the siblings who have stayed largely out of the spotlight despite their brother’s fame.
Kait Gillis: Nonprofit Leader and Advocate
Kait Gillis is the eldest of the Gillis siblings. She is a nonprofit leader, family advocate, and entrepreneur based in Pennsylvania.
Kait founded and co-owns Nour Coffee, an inclusive café in Hampden Township and Camp Hill. The shop employs and trains neurodivergent people and people with disabilities. She also established Nouri’s Place, a nonprofit that supports families of children with Down syndrome.
Kait is married to Mina Hanna, an Egyptian Coptic Christian. They have four children, including a daughter named Nour who has Down syndrome. Shane has referenced his niece in his comedy, including during his 2024 SNL monologue when he joked about the family coffee shop.
Kait has spoken publicly about her brother’s comedy. “He’s very, very smart, and his humor is smart, and he doesn’t take sides, which doesn’t happen anymore,” she told Biography.
Sarah Gillis: The Private Creative
Sarah Gillis is Shane’s younger sister. She works as a production designer and has served at Carnegie Mellon University in a creative design capacity.
Unlike her brother, Sarah maintains a private life away from media attention. She rarely appears in public or on social platforms. Shane has occasionally referenced her in his stand-up and podcast appearances, but she has not sought the spotlight.
How the Sisters Influenced Shane’s Comedy
Shane has credited his sisters with shaping his comedic voice. Their distinct personalities provided material for his observational humor and storytelling.
During his October 2026 SNL monologue, Shane referenced childhood teasing from his sisters. He claimed they would heckle him with “the meanest things,” including calling him “b**** hips” and poking fun at his receding hairline by saying he resembled a fascist leader.
The comedian framed the teasing as part of the psychological dynamic that shaped his resilience and his comedy.
Family Roots in Pennsylvania
Shane, Kait, and Sarah were raised in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, near Harrisburg. Their parents are Phil Gillis, a retired food-packaging equipment salesperson, and Joan Gillis, a homemaker.
All three siblings attended Trinity High School in nearby Camp Hill. The family was raised in the Catholic faith, which Shane has drawn on for comedy material.
Current Status
Kait continues her work with Nour Coffee and Nouri’s Place in Pennsylvania. Sarah maintains her career in production design while staying out of the public eye.
Shane is currently single following his 2025 breakup with influencer Grace Brassel. He continues to tour as a stand-up comedian and stars in the Netflix series Tires.
