Selma Blair Children: All About Her Life as a Mother to Son Arthur Saint Bleick
· calvin
Selma Blair has one child: a son named Arthur Saint Bleick, born on July 25, 2011. The Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions actress shares her only child with her ex-boyfriend, fashion designer Jason Bleick.
Arthur, now 14, has been a central figure in Blair’s life, particularly as she navigates motherhood while living with multiple sclerosis. The actress has frequently described her son as the source of her hope and strength.
Arthur’s Birth and Early Challenges
Blair’s journey into motherhood was not easy. Arthur was born weeks past his due date, and Blair has described the labor as traumatic. In a now-deleted Instagram post marking his eighth birthday, she wrote that the inducing process was “horrific” and that she experienced “full labor with non-dilation for 37 hours” before finally requesting an epidural.
Arthur was delivered by Dr. Paul Crane, a Beverly Hills obstetrician known for treating celebrity clients including Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé.
Blair later revealed that she began experiencing MS symptoms during labor, though she would not be formally diagnosed until years later. She told Today that her fatigue was always the primary issue, and as a single parent, there was “no room for extra fatigue.”
The Bond Between Mother and Son
Blair has spoken openly about how Arthur gave her purpose. During a 2022 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she said: “I didn’t know I had hope until I saw my son, and I love him more than anything.”
Arthur has been a visible support system for his mother. He helped shave her head ahead of her stem cell transplant for MS, a moment captured in the documentary Introducing, Selma Blair. Blair told Entertainment Tonight that she wanted him to be part of the process “to have him be a part of it, help him be in control of maybe like a first image of Mom looking different.”
At the 2025 Forbes Power Women’s Summit, Blair praised her son, saying: “I’m really in awe of how brave and wonderful he is, and he takes great care of me, too, when at times I need it.”
A Typical Teenager with Humor
Despite the serious moments, Blair has shared lighthearted stories about Arthur’s teenage antics. In April 2025, she told People that her son refused to watch her films for years because he believed they were all in black and white. “He said, ‘Because all your movies are in black and white,'” Blair recalled. “I was like, ‘Pardon? Come again?’ He’s like, ‘Aren’t they?’ I die. He thinks that I’m from 1930.”
Arthur eventually watched one of his mother’s films—Cruel Intentions—with his girlfriend. Blair recounted the moment with amusement, noting that her son was surprised by some of the film’s more provocative scenes. “He’s like, ‘Mom, what was that?’ Because my character Cecile does it,” she told People. “It was naughty.”
Co-Parenting with Jason Bleick
Blair and Jason Bleick dated from 2010 to 2012. Despite their split, Blair has spoken positively about their co-parenting relationship. “Jason is a huge part of Arthur’s life. He’s shown up in a big way,” she told People. “I’m really proud of us.”
Bleick is a fashion designer and the former vice president of design at Quiksilver. He founded his own luxury brand, EVER, which he shut down in 2011.
Arthur Today
Arthur turned 14 in July 2025. Blair marked the occasion with an Instagram post featuring photos of her son, including one of him on a motorbike and another by a horse. “Happy 14th birthday, Arthur,” she wrote. “I am so proud to be your Mom. And when you laugh, my whole life seems to sing. You are our hearts. We love you so much. Thank you for being Arthur Saint.”
In June 2026, Arthur accompanied his mother to Elle World, a pop-up event marking the 25th anniversary of Legally Blonde. He wore a white linen Brooks Brothers suit for the occasion. Blair also celebrated her 54th birthday with Arthur by her side, sharing a photo of the two of them with a birthday cake.
Blair has said she is “in a good spot” with parenting now, after years of learning how to manage motherhood alongside her chronic illness.
