Selma Blair’s boyfriend is Andy Kiernan, a Midwest businessman she began dating in 2024. The Cruel Intentions actress confirmed the relationship in July 2024, describing him as a non-industry partner who values privacy as much as she does.

Kiernan is the co-founder of The Kiernan Group, a business firm. He is 54 years old, making him two years older than Blair, who was born in June 1972.

Blair revealed the origins of their relationship in an interview with Us Weekly. She said she spotted him from across a table at an event.

“I saw him from across a table and now he’s my boyfriend,” she told the magazine.

The actress said she specifically wanted a partner from the Midwest. “I wanted a Midwest man and I found a real Midwest man,” she said.

Why She Kept the Relationship Private

Blair explained that she deliberately kept Kiernan out of the public eye for months before they were photographed together. She told Us Weekly that relationships are “best kept out of press if possible” because “nobody wants to be exposed to scrutiny.”

The couple went public in July 2024 when they were photographed together at Los Angeles International Airport. Blair wore a casual outfit, and Kiernan walked closely behind her during the outing.

The actress explained that motherhood, her career, and her ongoing treatment for multiple sclerosis make marriage impractical.

“Fitting anything in as a mother wanting to build a career and figure out when you’re going to get your blood treatments in — a boyfriend falls by the wayside really easily,” she said. “That’s why I would never want to get married. It’s a major setup to fail.”

Before Kiernan, Blair’s most recent public relationship was with filmmaker Ron Carlson. They dated on and off from 2017 until their split in 2022.

The relationship ended with a restraining order. Blair filed a protective order in February 2022 after alleging that Carlson assaulted her while she was recovering from an MS treatment. Carlson was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge. Both parties later dropped their restraining orders, though the criminal case against Carlson remained active.

Blair told Us Weekly that finding love later in life was possible, offering encouragement to others in the same situation.
