Blake Corum Wife: Meet Makiah Corum, the Author and Advocate Behind the Rams Running Back
· calvin
Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum is married to Makiah Corum, née Shipp, a children’s book author, motivational speaker, and youth advocate. The couple met at the University of Michigan in 2022, got engaged in June 2024, and married in April 2025. They welcomed their first child, daughter Zara Corum, in March 2026.
Makiah has built a public profile that stands independently from her husband’s NFL career. She is the founder of Makiah’s Bookshelf, a children’s literature business she launched during her senior year at Michigan, and has authored books including Makiah’s Show and Tell and Makiah 4 President.
From Michigan Campus to NFL Life
Blake and Makiah met at the University of Michigan, where she studied public policy analysis and African American studies. She was active in student government, serving as a senior policy advisor for anti-racism on Michigan’s Central Student Government, and was the youngest member of Ann Arbor’s Independent Community Police Oversight Commission. Blake was a standout running back for the Wolverines, winning a national championship before being drafted by the Rams in 2024.
Their relationship began quietly in 2022. The couple kept their romance largely out of the spotlight during their college years, occasionally sharing moments on social media but avoiding the public eye.
The Proposal and Wedding
Blake proposed on June 30, 2024, on a rooftop decorated with roses and illuminated “MARRY ME” signs. Makiah shared the moment on Instagram with the caption, “Forever with my better half❤️.” The post drew congratulations from former Michigan teammates including Caleb Williams and AJ Barner.
The couple married in April 2025. Makiah had been referring to herself as his wife since at least March 2025, when she created a jacket for him through her clothing company, Sideline Printz.
Makiah’s Career as an Author and Advocate
Makiah’s work centers on youth empowerment and literacy. Makiah’s Bookshelf was born from a class assignment at Michigan when she was required to write a children’s book. She self-published Makiah’s Show and Tell, a story about a young Black girl teaching others about the significance of natural hair in Black culture, followed by Makiah 4 President two months later.
She toured Ann Arbor public schools while still a student, often visiting up to three schools per day. Her presentations included interactive read-alouds, trivia questions with photos of herself as a child, and conversations designed to help students feel connected and validated in their identities.
A Growing Family
Blake and Makiah announced they were expecting their first child in September 2025. Zara Corum was born in March 2026, weighing just over six pounds and measuring 19 inches. Blake announced her arrival on Instagram with a message to his daughter: “Daddy loves you more than words could ever explain. I promise to protect you, guide you, and give you my very best every single day.”
Derek Jeter was among those who congratulated the couple in the comments. Rams teammates Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers also sent well wishes.
Public Support for Each Other
Makiah has been a visible presence at Rams games, often wearing custom apparel she designs herself. In January 2025, she wore pants featuring Blake’s image in his Rams uniform. Blake has reciprocated the support, attending her book tours and publicly celebrating her achievements.
In January 2026, Blake commented “You’re beautiful my love” on photos Makiah posted from a restaurant outing. The couple also shared a humorous video outside a TJ Maxx during the 2026 offseason, showing a lighter side of their relationship.
In his post announcing Zara’s birth, Blake praised Makiah for her strength during pregnancy. “The courage, strength, and perseverance you’ve shown over these last ten months have been nothing short of inspiring,” he wrote. “You handled every moment with faith, trust and resilience, and just when I thought I couldn’t love you anymore the love has grown.”
