Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Hospitalized After Suffering Head Injury in New Jersey Prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs was taken from federal prison to a hospital over the weekend after suffering a head injury, according to multiple reports. The 56-year-old music mogul, who is serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, was transported by ambulance early Saturday morning for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
A representative for Combs, Juda Engelmayer, said the team was working to establish what happened. “We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances,” Engelmayer said in a statement. “Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out.”
What Happened
TMZ first reported that an ambulance left FCI Fort Dix around 1 a.m. ET on Saturday, October 10. Sources said Combs was conscious and speaking when he was transported back to the prison before sunrise that same day.
The cause of the head injury remains unclear. It is not known whether it resulted from an accident, a fall, or an altercation with another inmate.
A spokesperson for FCI Fort Dix declined to comment, citing privacy, safety, and security reasons.
Returned to Solitary Confinement
A source told People magazine that after returning to Fort Dix, Combs was placed in solitary confinement. It has not been established whether the injury was connected to any earlier disciplinary incident.
Combs had previously been placed in solitary confinement in July 2026 after a physical altercation with another inmate. Insiders said the two men pushed each other before fighting, and Combs “held his own” during the exchange. Prison staff broke up the fight and separated them.
Context of Prison Conditions Under Scrutiny
The hospitalization follows increased scrutiny of Combs’ life behind bars. In late September 2026, NBC News published a report alleging that Combs had access to contraband items and received special treatment from other inmates.
The report claimed that Combs paid fellow inmates to cook special meals for him, clean his living area, do his laundry, and provide massages. It also alleged he had access to a contraband cellphone and alcohol smuggled into the facility.
One inmate told NBC News: “This is not some normal s— you see in jail. This is some rich s—. It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”
Following the report, Combs was sanctioned for “disruptive conduct” and lost 41 days of good conduct time, which delayed his projected release date.
Combs’ Legal Team Pushes Back
Engelmayer dismissed the NBC report and subsequent media coverage. “The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” he said. “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence while awaiting the court’s decision on his appeal.”
Engelmayer also rejected claims that Combs had created a “VIP section” in prison. “Anonymous claims that he has created a ‘VIP section’ at a federal prison and is handing out invitations to future White Parties make for colorful copy, but that does not make them true,” he said.
Why Combs Is in Prison
Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution under the Mann Act. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
He was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months in federal prison. His projected release date is currently March 2, 2028, after being adjusted multiple times due to disciplinary actions and other factors.
His legal team is appealing the conviction. Combs is also facing upwards of 70 civil lawsuits across the country.
